You Can Make a Difference! Research now demonstrates that massage has beneficial outcomes for clients who live with cancer. There are so many myths that surround the delivery of oncology massage that we must work hard to dispel them. Massage for cancer is now being used for symptom control and improving a persons quality of life. By working sensitively and intuitively to help people manage their condition we can make a difference.

Part 1
The online portion of the Oncology Massage course will cover the technical information you need in order to make appropriate choices in care, it will also prepare you for the practical workshop day wherein the main focus will be on case studies and hands on skills, plus working with walk in clients. The online powerpoint video presentation can be completed on its own if you want to understand the basics of how cancer forms, learn all about the research behind oncology massage, understand the different types of treatment and their side effects including the disease process itself. This is a requirement prior to you doing the practical day.

Part 2
A practical workshop that involves spending a day learning hands-on skills to use immediately. The morning will start with reviewing online coursework, answering any questions, then we will move onto exploring various intake forms that are specific to cancer clients, performing a full assessment using case studies to prepare you to work in clinic later in the afternoon. Each clinic treatment will be followed by a feedback session to review and consider a deeper understanding, suggest alternative or creative approaches, discuss what went well and what you would change.
